Group Acting
Exams
These exams are designed to develop the student’s skills in communicating
a dramatic text, in an ensemble, to an audience. Again, the group is assessed,
rather than the individual, placing emphasis on the idea of shared dramatic
responsibility which is essential to good theatre practice. For all levels,
in groups of between 3 and 10, the student’s perform prepared scenes
from published plays, screenplays, or adapted dialogue from published
novels.
Entry Level
A performance of a scene between 4 and 5 minutes in length which is simple
and straightforward and of a familiar subject for the student’s.
Level 1 - Foundation Level
(Grades 1 - 3)
A performance of a scene approximately 10
minutes in length which goes beyond easily recognisable stories
and events, explores emotions, moods and atmosphere outside their
immediate experiences and contains a variety of expressive vocabulary. |
Level 2 – Intermediate Level
(Grades 4 - 5) A performance of a scene or a sequence of
scenes from the same play, approximately 15 minutes in length which
continues to explore stories, events, moods and emotions outside
of their immediate experiences and includes more subtlety and syntax
within the language. |
Level 3 – Advanced Level
(Grades 6 - 8) A performance of a scene or a sequence of scenes from the same
play, approximately 20 minutes in length which enables the group
to engage with complex emotions and universal themes and the content
and language should be technically challenging. |
