Our February 2019 Jack Petchey Award Winner is Jess Forman pictured with Theatre School Principal, Phil Dale.
Phil is Phoenix. He founded the company in 2008 and has been the driving force behind it ever since. He has produced, directed and appeared in numerous productions from Panto to Shakespeare at both the Rhodes in Bishops Stortford and Harlow Playhouse, as well as producing national touring work through Phoenix Theatre Arts, his production company. There’s every chance you’ve seen him bearded and in a dress – probably in the picture on the side of his van – he’s never been afraid of a bit of publicity!
Faye is the leading light of our Primary aged classes and the children just love her. She’s been involved in Phoenix since she was 11 and appeared in numerous pantos and musicals both at Harlow Playhouse and Rhodes Arts Complex. She worked professionally for Disney for several years and now she’s a fully qualified Primary Teacher; bringing a sense of fun and confidence to hundreds of Phoenix students.
Like his big sister Faye, Connor has been involved with Phoenix since he was at Primary school and now brings all he has learnt to benefit our Primary aged children. He’s appeared in several panto’s and musicals at Rhodes as well as writing songs and lyrics for various shows. Actor. Musician. Writer. Mad Cap Off the Wall Creative. All these things can be used to describe him but to our Phoenix Primary children he’s just 'Connor' and that’s all that matters.
Like all our tutors, George has been with Phoenix since he was at Primary School and now loves to return the favour to our current students. An Actor/Musician, George may well have first come to your attention as Flora, the caustic and overconfident ugly sister in Cinderella. His talents, however, extend beyond acting and soon he’ll be directing the music for our forthcoming production of Bugsy Malone.
Georgia has been both a student and performer with Phoenix since she was very young and now is the perfect role model for children who really want to achieve. She played Cinderella in the record breaking 2016/2017 Panto at Rhodes Arts Complex and is a member of the Phoenix production Pop Divas Live! which tours to theatres across the country. An actor, singer, dancer and choreographer as well as just one of the loveliest people your children could spend time with.
Jack has of course, like all our tutors, been with Phoenix since he was at Primary School and is now a qualified Primary Teacher, but his talents extend way beyond that simple fact. He has appeared in a multitude of shows for the company ranging from Pantomime to Shakespeare and now brings his very unique style and sense of humour to our Primary aged students – who are all the better for the experience!
